Poetry Festival, 2022.
On Friday 30th September, 2022 we held our 4th annual 'Holy Family's 'Off by Heart' Poetry Competition and Festival. All children enjoyed reciting their own poems in class 'off by heart'. The standard in the children's performances was outstanding and their use of tone, expression and volume was excellent.
As part of our festival, we had three winning entries from each class who went through to our grand finale in our whole school Poetry Festival. This event improved the children's speaking and listening skills whilst also developing their confidence. The children loved performing to the whole school, parents, governors and our independent judges.
Each class also took part in a whole class choral poetry performance. Please see below a selection of pictures from our Poetry Festival.
Vocabulary day, 2022.
To enhance and increase our pupils’ vocabulary skills, we hosted our own ‘Vocabulary day’. All our children and staff enjoyed coming to school dressed up as a chosen word.
The aim was to increase pupils’ vocabulary skills whilst giving children the opportunity to be as imaginative and creative as possible. We enjoyed taking part in a fabulous vocabulary parade and enjoyed a variety of vocabulary activities throughout the day

Author focus day - Roahl Dahl’s birthday celebrations.
Celebrating this day was all about being creative and enjoying the entrance into a world of fantasy & delight through a love of books.
Roald Dahl and our Author day was a perfect opportunity to introduce our children to books that have inspired children for generations. We used the day to not only celebrate Roald Dahl and his incredible books but to also immerse ourselves into a variety of books from other very well known authors.
Each class was given the following author to focus on for the day & all children were invited to dress up.
- Nursery & Reception - Eric Carle & David Mckee
- Year 1 & 2 - Oliver Jeffreys/Julia Donaldson
- Year 3 & 4 - Roald Dahl
- Year 5 & 6 - Michael Morpurgo
